Hifzan

Your daily Quran memorization coach

Memorize a little every day. Practice where you slip.

Hifzan is a daily Quran memorization coach. Each day has its own plan: listen, recite it back, then test yourself. On the default Balanced pacing, when today's test doesn't pass, Hifzan adds a practice step for the ayahs that slipped. Tomorrow's verses wait for one more pass.

01 · Build a plan

Build your plan in a few taps

Tell Hifzan what you want to memorize. It sets the days and the daily steps, you pick the pacing, and you can change any of it before you start.

  1. Choose your goal

Memorize a new surah, or continue one you've already started.

  2. Pick the surah

All 114 surahs, each marked Easy, Medium or Hard.

  3. Check it, then tap Create

See which ayahs fall on which day and pick the pacing. Each day is sized to its ayahs: about three short ones, two medium or one long.

Rather set it up yourself? Build my own plan lets you choose the surah, the steps and the routine.

02 · Every day

Every day has a plan

Open Hifzan and today's work is waiting on the Today screen, in order. Tap Start and each step opens with its own settings, ready to go. In a recommended plan, a day looks like this:

  1. 1 · Review

    From day 2

A test on everything you've memorized so far, before anything new.

  2. 2 · Listen

The reciter builds the new ayahs up: 1, then 2, then 1 and 2 together, then 3. Each step plays five times.

  3. 3 · Guided Recite

Hear an ayah, then recite it back as the words color in. Five rounds for each ayah.

  4. 4 · Test

Recite from memory with the text hidden, one ayah at a time. The test decides when tomorrow's verses unlock.

Steps unlock one at a time. Finish the last one and Today turns green: You're done for today.

03 · The practice loop

Where you slip is where you practice

On the default Balanced pacing, when today's test doesn't pass, today's plan changes: Hifzan adds practice for the ayahs that slipped and asks for one more pass before tomorrow's verses unlock.

  1. The test

Session summary after a test: Almost there, 0 of 2 ayahs solid, with Practice the tricky ayahs and Retake testSession summary after a test: Almost there, 0 of 2 ayahs solid, with Practice the tricky ayahs and Retake test, in dark mode

You recite today's ayahs from memory, one at a time. Here both slipped, so the test reads Almost there and asks for another pass.

  2. Practice is added

Today's plan with a Guided Recite step marked Added by your coach, and the test waiting for one more passToday's plan with a Guided Recite step marked Added by your coach, and the test waiting for one more pass

Hifzan adds a Guided Recite step over the ayahs that slipped, marked Added by your coach, right before the test.

  3. Practice, then retest

Guided Recite on Al-Mulk: your turn on ayah 2, with recited words colored green or redGuided Recite on Al-Mulk: your turn on ayah 2, with recited words colored green or red, in dark mode

Hear each ayah and recite it back as the words turn green or red. Then take the test again. Each try is a new round, as many as you need that day.

  4. The day is done

Today's plan after the test passes: every step checked and You're done for todayToday's plan after the test passes: every step checked and You're done for today, in dark mode

When the test passes, today's plan is done. New verses unlock tomorrow. When every ayah is clean, Continue to Day 2 starts them now.

New ayahs wait for a pass

On Balanced pacing, at least 80% of the day's ayahs need a clean recitation. On a day of two or three ayahs, that means all of them. Strict always asks for every one. A miss reads Almost there, not failed, and your streak is safe either way.

Out of time? Stop here for today

The day closes with the test still open. Next morning the same ayahs come back, every step again, marked Strengthen. Balanced gives you one Strengthen day before moving on. Strict waits for the pass.

A daily review of everything so far

From day 2, each day opens with a test on all the ayahs you've memorized in the plan. Any you miss show up on Today as spots to revisit, without holding the plan up.

Already started a surah?

Choose Continue memorizing a surah. Day 1 opens with a check: recite from the start as far as you can. The plan skips the ayahs you know well and spends its days on the rest.

The practice loop and the pass rule run on Balanced pacing, the default for new plans, and on Strict. Relaxed plans move at the planned pace either way. Tests and Guided Recite are part of Hifzan Pro.

04 · After each session

See how every session went

Each session ends on one clear sheet: what you did, how it went and what comes next.

  • After Guided Recite

See how many verses you covered. Continue to Next Step takes you straight into the next one, and after the last step, today's plan is done.

  • After a test

Each ayah is scored on its own. A pass reads Test passed: these verses are solid. If too many slip, you see Almost there, how many ayahs were solid, and Practice the tricky ayahs.

  • An Ayah map for every surah

In Progress, each ayah is a square: Solid, Needs work or Not tried. Tap one to see the words you missed, your attempts and your best result.

  • Perfect score? Keep going

Recite every ayah clean and you can start the next day's ayahs right away, once a day.
